Mr. Jerry Zitko has taught orchestra in the District #203 schools since graduating from DePaul University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 1983. He received his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from North Central College in 1999. Mr. Zitko is a member of the American String Teachers Association and the DePaul University School of Music Board of Directors.

Mr. Zitko currently teaches 160 orchestra students at four District #203 schools: Madison Junior High, Scott Elementary, River Woods Elementary, and Meadow Glens Elementary. He also teaches several extra-curricular activities, such as Bluegrass Strings and has instructed District #203 Honor Strings in the past.

Erika Owen
Miss Owen is a recent graduate of Millikin University, where she participated gleefully in the Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, and International Flute Society. She looks forward to obtaining her masters degree in the near future. In her spare time, she enjoys beach vollyball, roller coasters, and reading.

David Carroll
Mr. Carroll has taught band at Madison since 1999.  He also teaches at Maplebrook Elementary School. Mr. Carroll has also contributed two articles for The Instrumentalist magazine, and created an online music "flashcard" game to help students with music literacy.

Mr. Carroll is an alumnus of the University of Illinois, where he graduated with high honors. He has recently completed his Master's Degree in Music Education at Northern Illinois University. Mr. Carroll likes to write webpages in his spare time.

Janet Kurinsky
Miss Kurinsky teaches 6th and 7th grade general music, and directs the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs. She graduated magna cum laude from Augustana College in 2001 with a B.A. in music education, where she sang with the Augustana Choir, Chamber Singers, Handel Oratorio Society, and Opera@Augustana. Most recently, Mrs. Kurinsky taught choir and general music at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, singing in her church choir, reading, shopping, and spending time with her family (and dog - Murray!).

The Madison Band Program emphasizes a comprehensive approach to music learning. Each member receives one small group lesson a week and three full ensemble rehearsals a week. The full ensembles meet according to the following schedule:
